Bright Grey: Who knows where a quick cup of tea can lead

Sometimes when you see an opportunity you just have to go for it.  That’s what happened when Jerry Bayman, national corporate sales manager spoke to Ian Smart, our head of product development and technical support about a gap in the market following new legislation.  Together they found a way for businesses to provide employees with life cover in a tax efficient manner.

Relevant life policies can be used for small businesses that don’t have enough eligible employees to warrant a group life scheme or for high-earning employees who have substantial pension funds and don’t want their death-in-service benefits to form part of their lifetime allowance.

We were the first provider to offer relevant life policies in 2008 and since then they've become hugely popular. Relevant life policies can be the door opener into business protection and a way to help you grow your business.  And these are the ways you can use them:

  • To provide death-in-service benefits to employees and directors of small businesses that don't have access to registered group life schemes.
  • To top-up existing death-in-service cover that high earning clients have within a registered group life scheme.
  • To take death-in-service benefits outside of a registered group life scheme, freeing up pensions lifetime allowance.
  • To make contact with new business protection clients.
  • To develop professional connections in the business protection market.
