Orbis: Four principles for choosing the right active manager

The active versus passive debate that has raged for years has its supporters on both sides. However, most investors would (hopefully) generally accept that in the current uncertain environment of the past few years their portfolio can, and probably should, be made up of a diversified set of investments. This includes the option of blending together the usually lower-cost, market hugging returns of passive funds with higher cost, active funds that offer the potential for higher returns in the long-term.
