Quilter Cheviot: Maintaining a sense of team spirit
Lockdown has created any number of challenges for those of working from home. And while I’ve had my fair share of IT issues, I think one of the bigger challenges has been trying to maintain a sense of team spirit.
To help bring us all together at Quilter Cheviot, we started writing a company-wide email detailing what we’d been up to. We had ‘beard updates’ for a few people, lockdown tips and I wrote my own TV review called ‘What the Butler saw.’ Go on, groan if you must!
Anyway, the reason I mention this is because maintaining that team spirit and social contact has been an underappreciated challenge over the past few months. Both of those factors contribute to your mental health and motivation to keep working, and avoiding burnout is something I suspect will become a bigger issue as this Covid situation continues. That weekly email is part of how we have been dealing with some of that challenge at Quilter Cheviot, and I’m sure you will have all adopted your own rituals, consciously or otherwise.
If you do want to think a bit more widely about this kind of thing, I’d suggest our next There For You webinar at 10am on 23 July. Paul Hucknall (Quilter Head of HR) and Russel Bignall, Head of Wealth Platform, UK Distribution at Old Mutual Wealth, will be looking at how to support your mental health, build personal resilience, and the importance of support networks. You are free to attend the webinar or not, of course, but I’ll certainly be tuning in.
If you want something more investment focused, then I’d highlight our webinar on Tuesday 14 July with Claudia Quiroz, Lead Portfolio Manager of our Climate Assets Fund. Claudia will be giving an introduction to sustainable investing, something which we’ve been getting an increasing number of questions on. This is the last in our webinar series, but you can re-watch previous ones and I’d welcome any topics for future webinars.
And if you want to know What the Butler is watching this week, it’s The Last Dance, a documentary on The Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan. Incredible viewing.
David Butler,
Head Of Distribution
