Mixed Investments reclaim the top spot, FundsNetwork sales data reveals

The Mixed Investment 40-85% Shares sector took the number one spot in the sector sales chart in February, the latest FundsNetworkTM data has revealed.

February also witnessed strong demand for investments in the Volatility Managed, Japan, Mixed Investment 20-60% Shares and Europe excluding UK sectors, which all followed closely behind the Mixed Investment 40-85% Shares sector in the sales table.

Interestingly, while the overall bestselling funds in February were somewhat correlated with the trends exhibited in the sector sales, what is more noticeable is that there was a strong bias towards passive funds last month.

This demand for passive investments was also apparent amongst clients in the FundsNetwork Pension and ISA investors, which could suggests advisers and their clients are increasingly favouring low cost investments in the current environment.

Paul Richards, Head of Sales at FundsNetwork, comments: “With the market correction in February, it comes as little surprise that we saw strong demand from advisers and their clients for multi asset and volatility managed investments last month, as evidenced by our latest sales data.

“We also saw advisers and their clients seemingly search for pockets of value as underlined by the flows we witnessed into Japanese and European equities, which continue to look competitively valued against other equity markets.

“Looking ahead, with the outlook for global markets remaining challenging, we would continue to expect mixed asset and volatility managed solutions to remain in high demand from advisers and their clients.”
