Prudential: Oracle technical - January edition is now available
Welcome to the first edition of Oracle Technical for 2016.
I hope you’ve all had some nice time off over the festive period and are all happily back at work getting ready for New Year’s Eve…
…New Tax Year’s eve that is. All people in the financial planning world know it’s far more important to be ready for the 5th of April than the 31st December.
So, this issue looks at some important topics around tax year end.
I have a rummage through the machinations of our income tax system, you can’t do tax planning if you can’t get your head around tax!
Mark looks at the system of pension tax relief we have currently and some potentially final pension tax planning opportunities - I wonder what the 16th of March will bring.
Gerry ruminates on a case he found interesting involving a SSAS sheltering some polish workers.
It’s a look at making gifts and the associated IHT reporting requirements from Graeme.
The helpline has started the year busy as ever.
The tax and trust “wing” looks at some questions around bond gains and the personal allowance and also another common query on the interaction of bond gains and capital gains.
Pensions wise (not the guidance service) we run through when tax relief applies for individuals and employers and also a selection of our regular queries on the new tapered annual allowance.
Finally, if you’re reading this you may have missed Graeme and I on our tax year end WebEx and Lifetime Allowance masterclass. If you want to listen again you can find them on our website.
I hope you find it useful and I would welcome any thoughts or comments you may have on this edition or any other topics.
